Does it Sound Like a Helicopter? (Brrrrr)

I've had that song by Cher Lloyd (I Want You Back) stuck in my head all week. And no, it doesn't sound like a helicopter.
Anyhow, I have been busily crafting away at the request of a friend of mine who is stationed in Germany. Who knew there were plate hangers for this sort of thing?! We just use ours as lap trays....
My humble plaque is to be auctioned off, or maybe raffled at a company event they are holding. Because sometimes it feels good (great!) to give. I hope it finds an enthusiastic home. Shout out to military families in Germany (including my own beloved bro-in-law). I am envious of your pretzels!

Opening my online shop within weeks....custom plaques will be available. Add it to your shopping list! Maybe, baby. Hope you are having a great weekend, friends!

Ingredients of a Weekend.

A bit of everything this weekend. Not least, sweet peas from the garden that dress up a salad in my new bowl (thanks, Brianna, the green stuff never tasted so good!).
Drawing. Printing. Cutting. And repeat. Feeling a little warm and fuzzy about the cool selection of antique pen nibs discovered at a thrift store. I feel like I'm back at art school. Delight is in the details.

Our poor overgrown turtle (hello, Bob!) is dearly in need of a new (bigger) aquarium. In the meantime he's pretending to be a Nascar driver, tearing up and down the lawn in a bid for freedom/ victory/ fame- who knows?. Relax little buddy, have a shrimp. And maybe next month we'll buy you a mansion.

Be A Producer, Not A Consumer

I read the title of this post somewhere and immediately a lightbulb switched on. Doesn't it just fill you with renewed motivation? For me, it did. I promptly rearranged my studio and got to work.

I have been so productive lately that I had a sushi date. With myself. At my desk. Now that is dedication.

Our efforts in the garden are starting to pay off. Behold this proudest bean. I almost got excited and ate it. Had to remind myself to slow down. Relax. Eeeasy. Wait a few.

I have been making and will soon be selling cards. That's what's new, pussycat. What's new with you?

Warm heart, little duck.

The boys and I are having a cosy little morning. Breakfast consisting of strawberries from our garden, homemade granola with local honey and -darn it- store bought yogurt (but you can't win them all). I stand by the commonly held view that things grown yourself taste extra-wonderful. An exception to this rule would be the lettuce leaf you popped into your mouth without noticing the baby caterpillar clinging to the underside of it. You can tell me it's protein all day long. Doesn't help.

Mister Fluff is taking some time out of being a wrecking ball, and has found something new to love. Thank you Christie and Jerrod for the adorable (much cuddled) duck!
Now full of breakfast and warmed of heart, let's get out there and conquer this day! Have a fun weekend, friends!

Memorial Day Weekend

Each of my days begins with an impatient ambush from Rudy and Felix in their enthusiasm to get up and start the day. Once cuddles have been had and slippers have been donned, I sleepily stumble into the garden with the boys to suck up some fresh air and hope my eyelids will open accordingly. Almost daily I am awarded with some pretty little detail that reminds me why I love mornings. Case in point: mini spider web in dewey grass. Lovely! (even better- not a spider in sight.  phew!)

Our memorial day weekend began with a trip to the lakes with our neighbors. Rudy hasn't been swimming for a while and wasted no time diving in after some imaginary object. Notice the ears. This is why we call him Yoda.....

Felix would follow Rudy to the moon and back, but after a magnificent start, he rather decided he didn't  like swimming! As such, he curled up on a towel and spent the rest of the day pouting and looking pretty. We are still searching him for ticks (oh, beloved South)..

Rudy was in his element, making good, hard-working parents out of us as we dutifully threw the ball to him for the thousandth time. Glorious start to the long weekend.

Also, remembering why this weekend is a holiday in the first place. Back in the UK, we have Remembrance Day where I would always buy a poppy, without understanding much of what was behind it. Now that I find myself in the unexpected position of being a military wife to my sweet (American) husband, I can and do say thank you to those who serve from precisely the bottom of my heart. Happy Memorial Day!

Fruits of the Morning

It is barely 9am and the day has sprinted off to a cheerful start. Not known for my observational prowess, I noticed this little message from the hubs two days after our anniversary. Whoops. (Heart you too, Toodles). Also, my beautiful lily opened up. I love lilies!

I used to read about how you should never have two male German Shepherds living in the same household. It just will not work. We didn't heed the advice, and it looks like my Fluffies are an exception to this rule. Too cute, Rudy the Gentle Giant!

My bleary-eyed early-morning venture into the vegetable patch was awarded with a sweet little harvest. Almost a meal (if I had a really really tiny appetite...)! Now, onwards with this day. Have yourselves a wonderful one!
